Welcome to Aftermath Reconnect, an initiative of The Aftermath Foundation, intended to expose and target disconnection as an abusive practice of Scientology, and to encourage reconnection with loved ones lost to scientology.

In Scientology, the practice of disconnection is one that is used to not only control and leverage its members, but to isolate scientologists from their family and friends in the outside world, so as to have complete control over them and with the intention of keeping them IN Scientology.

Disconnection is defined as the severance of all ties between a Scientologist and a friend, colleague, or family member deemed to be antagonistic towards or in “bad standing” with the organization. If a Scientologist is ordered to disconnect from a family member or loved one, they must immediately cease any and all communication with that person, as if that person no longer exists.

Extreme isolation of its members from the outside world is also how David Miscavige has managed having his wife, Shelly Miscavige, banished from her position as second in command in 2006 and why she has not been seen or heard from since, including by her closest family members. Shelly’s plight has caused national interest, with Leah Remini’s public departure from Scientology and subsequent missing person report filed with LAPD. Thus we have chosen the theme of “Where is [loved one]?” for this program.

Our intention is to provide a place where people can report their loved ones in Scientology as missing, thus creating a repository and missing person directory of loved ones lost to Scientology. Anyone with information on these people can also submit a report, and anyone who knows the person can also give their message for the person to read. And finally, the intent is that these missing people will have a way to reconnect with their family and loved ones when they are ready to make that step. We appreciate your support!

“I wanted to say thanks to the Aftermath Foundation for helping me reconnect with and help my twin sister. She was in Scientology for 40+ years, since she was a teenager. We were separated 28 of those years, but emotionally most all of those years, we weren’t able to be close sisters anymore after we had joined the cult of Scientology and its Sea Organization back in the 80’s.  When I left the Sea Org in 2000, I wasn’t sure I’d ever see my sister ever again. Now, Corinne has escaped the yoke of that cult, and is having to start a whole new life at 57, get to know me again, dealing with neglected dental, health and mental health issues, lack of education, clearing up the lies she’s been told, and reconnecting  with other estranged family and friends,  and it’s difficult to say the least. But at least we are on that healing road now and are able to do it together. The Aftermath Foundation jumped in with much needed financial and phone and email support when the opportunity arose for my sister and me to reconnect. The Aftermath Foundation really helped me start on this new stage of our lives and have been continuing to be supportive. The barriers to us getting back together weren’t just financial, there was just so much emotional mental hurt to face, and we couldn’t do it without help. We are very much alive now and taking care of each other and enjoying that we have that freedom. We are so very very appreciative!”  ~ Maureen Bolstad
